Men’s Sheds work on getting ActiveStronger and Better

Australian Men’s Shed Association is encouraging members to take care at the shed and be sure to warm up and stretch before getting started on their projects.

For further information about the focus on movement at your local Men’s Shed, contact stuart@mensshed.net at AMSA.

The benefits of warming up and doing stretching exercise prior to starting shed projects we know will help members stay mobile and potentially reduce the risk of injury.

Moving heavy objects, machinery and project work can come with risks that require manual handling training and awareness, Work Health and Safety in relation to Men’s Sheds operations information can be found in the Shed resources section of our website. www.mensshed.org

This selection of 15min directed exercise session ideas to get warmed up and understand how movement feels, does not replace any instructions or regulations for Manual Handling and/or WHS requirements.  It is simply a guide to encourage members of local Men’s Sheds to think about warming up before getting on with their Men’s Shed Day.  There are many reasons to be a part of your local Men’s Shed and just as many to be part of a local exercise group (like ActiveStrongerBetter).
